Margarita started painting in her teens as a past-time, under renowned Colombian Master Painter Juan Fernando Polo. In his studio, she learned the concepts of colour and composition, but more importantly, the relationship with the materials and the canvas.

She learned the theory of light, how it impacts the aesthetics and over time she tied this concept to the meaning of the work itself. Light is always present in her paintings as a reference to being connected to the higher self, the never-ending quest towards being more and more enlightened.

Now based in Vancouver, Margarita has pursued other areas of life beyond the arts, influencing the themes and style of her work.
